It was a beautiful weekend, and the temperature is on its way up, at least for now. This past week was a bit low-key regarding new releases, and if you weren't looking, you may have missed a few of them. Of course, there were a couple of big-name releases this week, but they had been quiet before this week. Let's dive in and look at a few of these releases from the past week.

Serayah - Archives EP

Vocalist, actor, and model Serayah McNeill, using the mononym Serayah, released her latest EP, "Archives." This is her latest effort since her album "Flutter" was released in August of last year. In addition to being known for her music, Seraya was a regular on the show Empire, playing the character Tiana Brown, and recently appeared on the show BMF.  The EP is a nice collection of four songs worth every bit of its 12-minute length.

PARTYNEXTDOOR - R e a l W o m a n

It's been about eight months since we've last gotten music from PARTY, and he's back with his latest single, "R e a l W o m a n." This song has to sit with me for a bit as it has the essence of past PARTY music but didn't immediately grab me last some of his other outings. Give the song a listen and decide for yourself if you're feeling the song or not.

Lendryx - Demos EP

Lendryx, an artist from Alabama, delivers with his latest EP Demos. As the title suggests, every song is a demo, and each song is relatively short. Of all the songs on the EP, "Energy" is my go-to, with a more polished sound and feel. It also happens to be the longest track on the EP.

Wes Nelson (feat Craig David) - Abracadabra, Pt. 2

Singer and TV personality Wes Nelson enlists fellow popular U.K. artist Craig David on part two of their song "Abracadabra." The original was an up-tempo, almost pop-like song, while this version is slowed down with smooth instrumentation that makes you focus more on the vocals. Of course, the guitar on this song touched my soul alone with well-placed breaks as the song progressed.

Vedo - Spinn On You

It's a good day when Vedo releases music. From the Voice to being a consistent force in R&B, Vedo drops his latest single, "Spinn On You." "Spinn On You" is a smooth listen about him spending money on a woman in a strip club. It's a different speed than what you would usually hear for a song of this type, but it still plays well.

MaKenzie (feat TA Thomas) - Maybe

MaKenzie, a previous contestant on The Voice, teams up with TA Thomas on her latest single, "Maybe." The pair sing about the possible reasons they took some of the actions they did in a relationship and how things are now different. "Maybe" works well with their combined vocals, especially as they sing as a duet at the end of the track.

JANE HANDCOCK - Southside Love

Bar Area native and singer-songwriter Jane Handcock presents her latest single, "Southside Love." Handcock is a multifaceted artist who has lent her pen to numerous artists and is also monitored by industry legend RaphaĆ©l Saadiq. "Southside Love" is a love song to someone she hopes knows her committment to it.

Omarion - Taking Off

Industry veteran Omarion is back with his first release of the new year. "Taking Off" is a familiar style song from the artist, with a feature from new act BJRNCK, he sings of bedroom activity. Omarion hasn't slowed down as of late as he's been releasing music regularly. Hopefully, we'll see another project from him this year as a follow-up to his 2024 album "Full Circle: Sonic Book One".
