Dawn Robinson, a founding member of the renowned R&B group En Vogue, recently revealed in a candid YouTube video that she has been living in her car for the past three years.  In the video, Robinson, 58, opens up about her unconventional lifestyle, emphasizing that her choice was driven by personal growth and a desire for freedom, rather than financial necessity.

Journey to ‘Car Life’

Robinson’s path to living in her car began in 2020 after leaving her parents’ home in Las Vegas due to familial conflicts. She then moved to Los Angeles, intending to stay with her former manager. However, after eight months in a hotel and facing unresolved housing arrangements, she embraced “car life.” Relocating to Malibu, California, Robinson found a sense of liberation in her new lifestyle, likening it to a continuous camping trip.

Embracing Freedom and Self-Discovery

Despite the challenges, Robinson views her experience positively, stating that it has been instrumental in her self-discovery. She expressed that living in her car has allowed her to learn more about herself as a person and a woman. Robinson also mentioned that she is not seeking sympathy but hopes to inspire others to face their fears and embrace spontaneity.

Career and Legacy

As a member of En Vogue, Robinson contributed to the group’s success in the 1990s, with hits like “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Free Your Mind.” Between 1991 and 1997, the group earned six Grammy nominations. Robinson departed from En Vogue in 1997 but reunited with the group briefly in 2005 and 2009.

Robinson’s revelation sheds light on the personal struggles that can accompany public success, highlighting her resilience and commitment to personal growth.
