Looking Back on 2025 Through My Spotify Wrapped

2025 is almost in the books, and with the holidays rolling in — the family time, the good food, the last-minute gift buying — we also get one of my favorite annual traditions: Spotify Wrapped. Every year I look forward to seeing the receipts behind my listening habits, and this year did not disappoint.

I can’t say I was surprised to see Leon Thomas sitting comfortably as my top artist. The man had a stellar run in 2025. Between dropping an incredible album (Mutt), blessing us with a standout EP (PHOLKS), and showing up on a few tracks by artists I love — including Sasha Keable — he stayed in rotation all year long. When an artist is that consistent, it’s only natural the numbers reflect it.

Looking at my full top five made even more sense as I thought back over the year. Spotify Wrapped also counts the songs an artist was featured on, which explains why a few names climbed higher than expected. For example, Isaiah Falls released a great EP (LUCKY YOU), but it came out later in the year, so I didn’t rack up as many listens as I did with other projects. But he was featured on “Slow It Down,” a Joe Kay release I ran back more times than I’d like to admit — enough to give Isaiah a well-deserved boost in my stats.

At the end of the day, that’s what I love about Wrapped. Beyond the graphics and the playlists, it’s a fun reminder of the songs and artists that truly soundtracked my life this year. My top tracks playlist is already in heavy rotation, and I’m realizing just how many moments from 2025 are tied to the music I played on repeat.

Now I want to see what you’ve been listening to. Whether you’re on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, or another streaming service, post your Wrapped, Replay, or end-of-year stats on Instagram and tag us @realrnbplanet. Let’s close out the year celebrating the music that kept us going.
