New Music Friday: Alex Isley, Realest K, Coco Jones and More
There was plenty of new music released this week, with a strong mix of albums and singles giving us a lot to tap into. The most anticipated drop for me was easily the latest project from Alex Isley, but overall this was a well-rounded week across the board.
Here are some of the highlights that stood out to me.
Leading things off, Alex Isley delivers her new album When The City Sleeps. After dropping a number of singles over the past few weeks, this project finally arrives for fans who have been waiting patiently. The album sounds exactly like what you’d expect from an Alex Isley project — smooth, polished, and intentional — while also showing a bit more of her range. It’s a strong addition to her catalog and one that will definitely stay in rotation.
RealestK returns with his latest album Forgive To Forget, marking his first full project in three years. Over the past year, he’s been steadily releasing music leading up to this moment, and this project feels like the culmination of that consistency. It’s always good to see artists build momentum before a release, and this album reflects that effort.
Another album worth checking out is Heaven is Here: PAIN from GIOVANNA. It’s a concise ten-track project, with four interludes, making it a quick 15-minute listen. Even with the shorter runtime, it delivers a focused and easy listening experience.
On the singles side, Coco Jones returns with “LUVAGIRL,” her first release since her last album Why Not More?. This feels like the start of something new, and hopefully it’s leading into another strong project from her.
Durand Bernarr teams up with James Fauntleroy for “Wild Ride,” and this is one of those collaborations I didn’t know I needed until I heard it. The two bring a unique chemistry that results in a really enjoyable listening experience.
Elmiene continues his run of quality releases with “Saviour.” His vocal ability is consistently on display, and with each release, he continues to show just how skilled he is as an artist.
It’s also good to hear new music from Arin Ray with “Both Of Us,” featuring Paperboy Fabe. Since his EP Phases III in 2023, releases have been limited, so it’s always welcome when he drops something new — especially at the level of quality we’ve come to expect from him.
Overall, this week delivered a solid mix of music that’s worth checking out. These are just some of the highlights, but if you want to stay fully up to date with everything that dropped, be sure to check out the RnB Pulse playlist, where we keep things updated and rotating with the latest releases.
