Bio

Liam Anthony "William" Singe was born on 2 July 1992 and emerged as a New Zealand singer, songwriter, record producer, and YouTuber. Raised in the northern Sydney suburb of Forestville, he is of paternal Māori heritage. He began recording music as a child, inspired by his father, a singer and songwriter belonging to the Ngāti Porou Māori tribe. Singe initially launched his career as a member of the Australian boy band The Collective, which formed during the fourth season of The X Factor Australia in 2012.

In February 2015, Singe announced that he was stepping away from the group to embark on his journey as a solo artist. Focusing his efforts online, he recorded vibrant bedroom covers across the R&B, pop, reggae, hip-hop, and rap genres. His take on Drake's "Hotline Bling" became his most popular release, generating close to 25 million views in under a month and climbing to number one on Spotify's US Viral 50 chart. This wave of releases resonated widely, expanding his Facebook audience from roughly 20,000 followers to more than two million by the end of 2015.

Following an official signing with RCA Records, he released his debut solo single, "Rush", in February 2017. His profile rose further when he provided vocals on Jonas Blue's single "Mama", which reached the top 10 across numerous countries, including Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. His debut studio album, Where Do Birds Go At Night?, arrived in July 2023 and included "Whānau", marking his first song translated into te reo Māori.
